Hello Gnus!
I just wanted to give you a brief introduction on myself, as I was asked to do during the registration process.
Let's start with a few basic details. My name, as should be obvious through the topic of this post, is Stephan Peijnik. I am a 21 year old student currently studying network engineering/IT at a local secondary level technical college in my hometown, Villach, Austria, but am going to start studying computer science in fall this year, which involves moving to Graz, Austria.
I got in touch with Free Software quite a while (must have been eight years) ago. At first I just liked the idea of how GNU/Linux is free (as in gratis) and so stable, compared to the then-available proprietary operating systems. However, after a while and some programming lessons I more and more liked the philosophical aspects of Free Software.
I soon switched to GNU/Linux completely and this has not changed until today.
During the past few years I have been involved with the Free Software community as advocate, developer and voluntary system administrator.
My most notable Free Software projects are probably GNU stalkerfs, penalyze2 (both unfinished and in some kind of defunct state right now) and more recently nwu.
I am also a Fellow of the Free Software Foundation Europe and try to advocate Free Software whenever and wherever possible.
As for the system administrator point, I have been helping administrate GNU Savannah until recently, but I am looking into becoming more active again.
I am reading a lot of (Free Software related) news on the Internet and have recently stumbled across Blue-GNU when I once again had a look at the gnu.org frontpage to see what has changed.
My blog can be found at sp.or.at/blog and I can be contacted via sp __at__ gnu __dot__ org.
Happy hacking,
Stephan
